Hi Folks! We want to share two important sets of information that may impact your travel with us in the coming months. The first is for everyone and the second is for USC families specifically.

1) Below are the dates over the next few months that we are either closed or restricted in some way.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your business!

2) For all you Gamecock travelers, please see below for some important dates and tips.

Fall Break is 10/17-10/20. Most students will leave on Wednesday, 10/16 and return on Sunday, 10/20. Get to the airport early and return to Charlotte early on Sunday. The later on Sunday you return, the higher the chance your flight will be delayed, potentially impacting your Monday classes.

Thanksgiving Break will be different than past years, as you will now have the whole week off. Get to the airport early and try your hardest not to arrive on Sunday night. The later on Sunday you return, the higher the chance your flight will be delayed, potentially impacting your Monday classes. All airports will be extremely busy on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The Carolina Clemson game (Saturday) is at Clemson this year.

Winter Break departures will be spread out over a week, depending on finals schedules, with most students departing by 12/16. Most students will return on 1/11 or 1/12, and classes resume on 1/13. Please don’t rush out of your last Final exam to catch the shuttle, and try not to return late on Sunday, 1/12. Winter weather can cause lots of delays and cancellations, making for an unpleasant Sunday evening and carrying over to the first day of your new semester.

Other Tips, based on 16 years of doing this:

Online reservations will set you free.

You want to buy or convert to a 10-Pack for a 20% discount. You’ll use it.

If you change your flight, we have no way of knowing until you tell us. Please don’t assume that we can support your new flight time.

You don’t have to be waiting for the shuttle at the Longstreet Theater an hour early, but the shuttle will leave on time, with or without you.

Make sure your phone is on and charged. Have your mother call to wake you up if your shuttle time is before noon.

Even in Columbia, it’s cold at 4am in December. Wear a coat. I know, you’re from New England. Wear a coat anyway.

Make sure you have your government-issued ID with you. If you forget everything else, have this.

Don’t. Check. A. Bag. The system will fail you. Winter Break? If you have to. But not the others.

When you arrive at CLT to catch the shuttle back to USC, it is a fluid operation. You may walk right to baggage claim and onto a shuttle 5 minutes later, or you may have to wait a little while. It’s not personal, it’s just timing. We want to get you back to school as quickly and safely as possible.
